Welcome to the new MG30 web site!

Hello MG30 group members…  and welcome to the new MG30 web site.

I had hoped I had handed over ownership of the old web site and the group, as I no longer own an MG30, but this has not been realised.  Part of the difficulty may be that the old site relied on obsolescent technology (iWeb on a Mac) and also required a FileMaker database. It was further complicated by having a separate user group in Google Groups.

To address these problems and in the hope that I will eventually be able to hand all this over, I have converted the web site to use WordPress, which provides modern and evolving web site and posting capability, and can be managed from any platform anywhere.  I have merged the posts from the Google Group into the site.

The new web site is to be found at the same address mg30.antipole.co.uk although you will find the layout very different. All the old user postings will be found on the new site under the Posts tab. The new site has public read access, including to the posts, except to the Member’s area.

To make your own posts, comment on posts and access the Member’s Area you need to register on the the site. The registration link can be found at the bottom right. I will be moderating registrations, so once I am afloat there may be delays. I hope to recruit a deputy administrator in due course. In addition to the MG30 Register, members can also maintain a page for their own boat. I will endeavour to associate old postings and comments with their authors, once they have registered with the site; meanwhile they are owned by admin.

So… please register and give it a go. Bear with me during any teething troubles – I have not run this registration process before. I suggest that any feedback and discussion takes place on the new site rather than the old Google Groups site.

Best wishes for the up-coming season.  Check out the Golden Jubilee post category to see what is happening in 2014 to celebrate fifty years of MG30s!

I am not computer literate and would really like to change that ghastly password for something easily remembered. your feed in email address will not display the page to do this.

Bill… make sure you are logged in, then pull down the Members Area menu and find ‘edit your profile or change your password’. There you can do as you wish.
